My 2014 Bucket List!

So, if I'm completely honest it would take too long to write my entire Bucket List in one post plus, it's always changing so it would be difficult for me to go through with everything I've ever thought of! But I do always have a handful of consistent wishes, particularly with my Year Abroad in Brazil. Last semester's ones included surfing, visiting Sao Paulo and making Caipirinhas. I'm going to start off with five from this semester and then finish off with five for the rest of the year back home.

In no particular order, my Bucket List for the first half of 2014:

1. Taking a mini trip by myself: completed! I took an overnight bus to Foz do Iguacu and spent two nights in a hostel on the Brazilian border. I went to the Brazilian side of the Iguassu Falls, the Argentinian side and then spent a few hours in Ciudad del Este, Paraguay before getting another overnight coach back. It was a fantastic experience and one of the best decisions I made throughout my time there. I met some really interesting people and the Falls themselves were just incredible! Google images do not do it justice!!
2. Driving a golf cart round Isla Mujeres, Cancún: completed! This sounds rather silly but I was so excited for it! Isla Mujeres is a small island off the coast of Cancun and I just loved the idea of renting a golf cart and going exploring! It cost £25 to rent for the day and there were so many wonderful things to see. We went to the Sea Turtle Sanctuary, had a wonderful lunch in a local cafe-bar and the beaches were just beautiful!! Definitely worth doing!!
3. Stand Up Paddle Boarding: completed (technically). We actually did Stand Up Paddle Board Yoga which in all fairness did require paddling first. But it was SUP Yoga we paid for. I was finishing my dissertation and it was the perfect relaxation! Very calming, and I love water so I was happy.

4. Visiting Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Unfortunately, apart from a flight change between Paris and Florianopolis in Rio, I didn't make it to Rio this year. Partly because I didn't have the money after going to Cancun, but also because of conflicting schedules with other people. Foz do Iguacu was one thing, but I didn't much fancy the idea of wondering around Rio by myself. I'm sure I'll think of going back because I'd love to go to northern Brazil as well. Although I personally wouldn't want to be in Rio between now and the 2016 Olympics.

5. Learning to Samba: completed! (Again more or less). There are three different types of Samba (Gafiera, Porta-Bandeira and Samba a Pé) and I'd say I've got the basics for the third one down. Samba a Pé is what we as foreigners think of when someone says Samba. For a girl there's not much to Porta-Bandeira because it is literally Carry-(the)Flag which is typically done by the couple who introduce and carry the flag from their Samba school. Gafiera is a couples dance and there are quite a few more moves required. I managed to bust my knee and the ball in my hip doing Samba a Pé because you have to keep your legs very straight and just work with the movement in your hips. But it's worth it for the fun and achievement!

So those were on my bucket list for the first half of 2014! Now for the second half (again in no particular order):

1. Reaching 100 Twitter followers: completed! I'm so happy! I haven't posted quite as frequently recently but I'm so grateful to everyone who I don't know who is following me!! Thank you!
2. Visiting Lady Dinah's Cat Emporium: completed! (See my blog post for my review). I loved this place so so so soooo much!! I first heard about it in December 2013/January this year and was instantly obsessed! They've done really well!!

3. To go to PlayZone in Bournemouth. Sounds childish, but what young adult doesn't want to relive their childhood in a massive ball park for adults!

4. To have fun and really enjoy my final year of university. I know there's going to be lots of work and I have extracurricular responsibilities but you only do university at this age once and I spent so much of the last couple of years worrying - even when I thought I was having fun - that I just want to thoroughly enjoy this year for the good and the not so good ie. deadlines. Keen bean that I am I'm looking forward to term beginning and the madness that ensues! :)

5. Made a change/difference in someone's life. I'm not quite sure how I'm going to go about this yet but I'll keep you posted. Working with my landlady in Brazil giving out soup to the homeless every so often was so rewarding, that I'd love to do something similar.

And that's the other half of my Bucket List 2014! I hope you enjoyed it and hopefully got some inspiration from it!!
Lots of love! xxx
