Han Meets World

It happened. So what will you do now?

So this week the world was hit with yet another wave of 2016-like surprise when Donald Trump was elected as the next President of the United States. I woke up to a newsfeed of shock, horror and fear. And at first I felt the same. It was that all too familiar feeling that 2016 seems to have been filled with, that the world is somehow doomed. And yet, life went on.

The tube was overfilled at rush hour due to the rain. I started a new job. And my evening of coaching carried on as per each Wednesday of the programme.

Nothing actually changed.

Now that's not to say that it won't. Heck who knows what is going to happen in the next year.

However I was not going to let myself wallow in a pit of doom as a result of a decision that I had no input in anyway.

For about twenty minutes at midnight on Wednesday, I felt vulnerable. For about five minutes at work, I was annoyed a woman missed out on such a significant place in the world, even with so much experience.

But that's just it. Life would be boring if it was easy!

The first female president of the States is out there right now. Learning and building her life, whether she knows it yet or not. So there is always hope.

And hey! She'll have fresh experience and potentially no history of a current name in politics - unless Michelle Obama or one of her daughters go for it in which case I am all for that campaign!

This Sunday though I am going to keep building my own life.

I am sorting my stuff into my mum's attic, catching up on some other admin and then going back to London fresh for work on Monday.

My dream keeps on going.

And yours can too!

The clock doesn't stop turning. You aren't doomed - unless you say you are. Your life is wonderful!

My flatmate reposted an awesome little clip of Oprah on my timeline the other day, and I think there are a couple of people out there who could use it. It always makes me feel calmer after watching it.

Life is bigger than any one event, so I encourage you to not let it become that for you.

Yes, the outcomes will have some impact on your life, but your true strength comes in how you deal in adversity.

Life is not about being 100% comfortable all the time, that's not living.

Life is a rollercoaster, and we can choose to ride out the thrills or plummet to the ground. Isn't that great!?

Let's hold on with two hands and ride!
